Nestlé Waters celebrates
World Water Day 2012
08 March 2012
World Water Day aims to draw attention to the importance of freshwater and is celebrated every year on March 22. World Water Day 2012 is coordinated by the United Nations agency, Food & Agricultural Organization (FAO) under the guiding theme, "Water and Food Security".
Nestlé Waters is celebrating World Water Day in 29 countries through a global and coordinated approach; around the world, Nestlé Waters employees, in partnership with the NGO, Project WET, mobilize to increase awareness around water, with a focus on youth and children, the water stewards of the future.
John J. Harris, President and CEO of Nestlé Waters
"World Water Day is an opportunity for Nestlé Waters to mobilize not only our employees but also the local communities in which we operate around the importance of good water management and preservation. Each year, new countries join in the celebration which mobilizes hundreds of employees and reaches thousands of children. This global project has been developed thanks to the support of Project WET with who Nestlé Waters has partnered for twenty years. Today, Project WET is one of the leading organizations working on water education for children."
Project WET was first launched in 1984 in the United States, and is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that develops educational tools to raise awareness of water issues amongst children.
