Nestlé Waters and Ambev establish a distribution agreement
Partnership will extend the presence of Nestlé Pureza Vital and São Lourenço
in the Southeast area and complement the portfolio of the beverage distributor
São Paulo, December 2012 – Nestlé Waters, the Nestlé Group’s water division, and Ambev have entered into an agreement for the distribution of the water brands Nestlé Pureza Vital and São Lourenço. The agreement is valid for the Southeast area and the states of Paraná and Bahia, the latter only for the brand São Lourenço. Nestlé will benefit from Ambev’s extensive distribution network. For Ambev, the agreement will complement its beverage portfolio with the offering of the Nestlé waters. The strategic agreement is aimed to bars, grocery stores, bakeries, liquor sellers and small and medium size supermarkets channels.
"Ambev’s logistics expertise will assure that consumers find our products in more places and points of sale with Nestlé’s recognized water quality standard. This agreement will should contribute to accelerate our growth and will be a win-win for both parties", states Alexandre Carreteiro, General Manager of Nestlé Waters in Brazil.
According to Ricardo Moreira, Ambev’s Refrigenanc (sodas and non-carbonates) director, "our non-alcoholic beverage portfolio that already includes brands such as Pepsi, Guaraná Antarctica, Soda Limonada and Sukita, among the sodas, Lipton in the ice tea segment, Gatorade, the quencher leader, and the energetic Fusion, now finds this perfect complement with household water brands, adding value to consumers and clients".
Nestlé Pureza Vital and São Lourenço will be distributed in the sparkling and still formats in 300 ml, 510 ml, 1.2l and 1.5l bottles. The agreement will comprise the Southeast Region and the states of Paraná and Bahia, the major consumption areas of bottled water in small-size format (less than 20l). This is a total market of 13 billion liters in Brazil that already turns over US$ 8.2 billion, according to information of Zenith International.
The terms of the partnership have already been submitted to the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (CADE) for prior exam by the regulatory agency.
