Join forces to protect ecosystem

Nestlé Waters Mexico and CONAFOR (Mexico's National Forestry Commission) signed an agreement on June 20 to invest more than $1M US dollars ($18 Mexican pesos) in a protected natural reserve in Izta-Popo National Park, within the area of the Sta. María natural spring and bottling facility.

Conserve, Protect and Restore

This agreement ensures the conservation of forest areas and hydrological-forest basins in the area around the Iztaccíhuatl volcano, where Sta. María pure spring water originates. As part of Nestlé Waters' commitments to contribute to the protection of the water resource that we share with the communities where we live and work, every year the company replants hundreds of hectares in the area around its Sta. María factory. Nestlé Waters employees work together with surrounding local communities in this reforestation program, which protects the natural water cycle and ensures the purity of the spring water bottled at the site.

Investing Together in Environment and Community

The collaboration between CONAFOR and Nestlé Waters will benefit more than 4,000 hectares in 13 municipalities that are located within the protected zone belonging to the Izta-Popo National Park. Nestlé Waters will provide 80% of the $18 MXP investment, with the balance of 20% contributed by the National Forestry Commission. Both organizations share the commitment to resolving environmental challenges and, through this agreement, demonstrate that collective actions are the best way to achieve tangible and long-term results.
