The spring water of Sta.María is born in the heart of the forest of Sta.María, at the foot of the Iztaccíhuatl volcano. The filtration process takes many years and the water travels for miles through rocks, sediments and soils, until it emerges to the earth’s surface. Thus the water is naturally purified and enriched with minerals to obtain its unique and unrepeatable composition and flavor.
In the last 10 years, we have been striving to maintain the ecosystem of the region by reforesting 270 hectares in the Izta-Popo National Park, a biosphere reserve.
Our factory has been saving water without interruption for more than 3 years now.
Sta.María contributes to the economic development of the region, creating jobs in the town: 60% of our collaborators come from the local municipality of Santa Rita Tlahuapan.
Protecting and revitalizing forest areas
Since 2017, Nestlé Waters has signed two agreements with the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR) for more than $125,000 USD for the protection and revitalization of forest areas and hydrological-forest basins in Puebla.
This partnership has benefited 15 collectively managed farms ("ejidos") of the region. The results of the project one year after its implementation: +16,000 Hours of work in the forest that involve surveillance tours, reforestation, fire brigades and road maintenance.
The Sta.María spring is a unique place in the heart of the forest, surrounded by hundreds of trees and species from the region. It’s a true wonder of nature in Santa Rita Tlahuapan, Puebla.
