Benefits

Buxton’s water comes from Buxton, a spa town in the heart of the Peak District.

It takes 5000 years from rainfall to bottle, as it slowly filters downwards through a mile of Derbyshire’s ancient limestone to produce 100% natural mineral water once it arrives at the surface.


Water Stewardship

Our Buxton factory is independently certified as ‘Zero Waste’ to landfill. It features traditional Derbyshire dry stone walls and was built mainly by local craftsmen using materials mainly sourced within 50 miles.

We support our community through our local partnerships with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trusts: we’ve launched the ‘Get Better with Nature’ campaign to help our community reconnect with the natural world.

In order to support Buxton’s ecosystem, we’ve planted a butterfly meadow in our factory grounds.

To encourage people to recycle their bottles, we're supporting Hubbub‏'s anti-littering campaign “For Fish’s Sake London, don’t drop litter!”


Environmental sustainability

Our factory has received a 5 star ‘Excellent’ Certification from BREEAM, the leading UK independent design assessment method for sustainable building. Our bottling plant is now 100% powered by electricity from renewable sources: solar, wind or hydroelectric power.

All our bottles are 100% recyclable because they are made from PET plastic. That’s why we partnered with Virgin Money London Marathon to organize the collection of the bottles we distributed along the route, for them to be recycled later into new bottles.

Since 2012, thanks to our modernized production facilities, our new bottle shape designs across the range use on average 25% less plastic.

About Buxton

In 1992, Buxton became part of the Nestlé group.

The latest marketing campaign called ‘Here’s to the Up and Coming’ follows stories of resilience and determination from three up and comers from the worlds of music, sport, and dance. It explore how these individuals overcome their struggles and obstacles, building their resilience to achieve their ambitions. The campaign draws a parallel between the British talents’ own challenges and the journey that Buxton® water travels, pushing up through layers of rock until finally breaking back through the earth’s surface in the heart of the Peak District.
