How Does Nestlé Waters Support Human Rights To Access Clean Water?

human right to clean water

Nestlé fully recognizes and supports the United Nations General Assembly’s decision to declare a human right of all people to have access to clean water to meet their basic needs, which include daily hydration, cooking and hygiene.

The human right to water was officially incorporated into our Corporate Business Principles in 2010, although support for it had previously been expressed.

We consider that we have to play a role to implement the right to water and we act accordingly. Our factories and suppliers respect the right to water of local communities. Wherever Nestlé operates, we ensure that local population have an adequate access to clean and safe water. The World Health Organization’s guidance of 50 to 100 liters of water per person per day is used as a reference.
