Perrier celebrates 35 years of partnership
with tennis at Roland-Garros!

This year, more than ever, Perrier will be bringing an audacious breath of fresh air to the Paris clay courts! To celebrate its 35th year of partnership with the French Open, the brand is honouring the tennis world and offering spectators, amateur players and members of the FFT an unforgettable fortnight!

Historic commitment to French tennis

Perrier, which has been by the FFT’s side since 1928, became an "official partner" of the Roland-Garros tournament in 1978. Since then, Perrier has continually developed its presence and strengthened its commitment to French tennis.

In 1987, the brand sponsored the French championships and created with Philippe Chatrier the annual "Trophée Perrier " to reward the leagues for their players’ performances.

In 1996, Perrier was present on the Roland-Garros courts with a special rest area for the players.

In 2011, Perrier gave its name to the "Trophée des Légendes". This annual tournament is a real event within the event, featuring the most famous names in the history of world tennis.

The spectators at the heart of the celebration

In recognition of its 35 years of partnership, Perrier will be giving away 35 free gifts every day to spectators at Roland-Garros! Original gifts that can be appreciated immediately: watching tournament matches from the VIP lounges, access to the legendary "village" to have a drink and maybe bump into some famous people on the corner of a street.

Fun yet rewarding activities

Spectators will also be invited to give their support to future tennis stars and show their appreciation for the sport by taking part in an original and rewarding gesture. They can put their empty PET bottles – of Perrier and Vittel – into a giant Perrier bottle. The thousands of bottles collected will be recycled and transformed into equipment to be given to tennis clubs.

Recognition for amateurs and club members

To illustrate its commitment to tennis, Perrier, in partnership with the FFT, is organising a one-day event with matches between tennis amateurs and professionals. The winners of the 2011 Perrier Trophy French Championship, from all age categories and in singles, will be invited to Roland-Garros on 9 June to play with some of the greatest champions in the history of tennis, current players or participants of the "Perrier Trophée des Légendes"!

Celebrating players and some very fine tennis

This year, the "Perrier Trophée des Légendes "will once again be celebrating the greatest stars in the history of tennis. Created and presented by Mansour Bahrami, it will take place from 5 to 10 June and, yet again, thrills, generosity and fun will be top of the bill! John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Henri Leconte, Sergi Bruguera and Goran Ivanisevic have already confirmed their participation…

Perrier celebrates its 35th year as partner with the Roland-Garros French open!

Perrier and Roland-Garros go back a long way, and are still scoring match points! Way back in 1928, Perrier celebrated the inauguration of the Roland-Garros courts by publishing an advertisement in "L’Illustration", a prestigious magazine of the time.

But Perrier’s involvement with tennis really began in 1978 when Perrier became "official partner" of the French open at Roland-Garros. In that year, the Perrier bubble featured on the ice boxes, and has since continued to bring sparkle to the prestigious Paris tournament, adding its brand image to the players’ rest and refreshment area with the emblematic umpire’s chair. At the same time the brand accompanied the rise of some of the greatest players, such as Guillermo Vilas, Henri Leconte, Goran Ivanisevic, Cédric Pioline, Monica Seles and Gabriella Sabatini.

Since then, Perrier has been increasingly present at Roland-Garros, standing out for the many services provided for the players, the organisation and the spectators.

35 years after coming to Roland-Garros, Perrier has become an indispensible and omnipresent partner.

To celebrate this historic partnership, Perrier is pulling out all the stops for this 2012 edition, and placing the tournament spectators and members of the French tennis federation (FFT) right in the centre of the celebration, giving them the opportunity for a unique and unforgettable experience! Spectators, amateur players and "legendary names" in tennis, in short, all tennis fans will be celebrated in a host of events and activities, meetings and games.

But it’s not only the 35 years of partnership between Perrier and Roland-Garros, it’s Perrier’s historic involvement with French tennis that will be honoured during this famous Paris fortnight. With creativity, freshness, humour and a little touch of madness, those "eau" so very Perrier values!

A fortnight of amazing celebrations

This year more than ever, Perrier will be bringing an audacious breath of fresh air to the Paris clay courts. To celebrate its 35th year as partner with the French Open at Roland-Garros, the brand is spotlighting all tennis players and offering the tournament spectators, amateur players and members of the FFT an unforgettable fortnight!

A historic involvement with French tennis

Since 1978 when the partnership was signed with Roland-Garros, Perrier has continued to develop its presence and strengthen its involvement in French tennis.

In 1987, the brand sponsored the French Championships, an amateur tennis competition, and with Philippe Chatrier created a "Perrier Trophy" to reward the leagues for their players’ performances.

In 1996, Perrier materialised its presence on the Roland-Garros courts with a special rest area for the players.

In 2011, Perrier gave its name to the Trophée des Légendes. This annual tournament is a real event within the event, featuring the most famous names in the history of world tennis.

The spectators at the heart of the celebration

To help celebrate the 35 years of partnership, Perrier will be offering 35 free gifts every day to spectators at Roland-Garros! Original gifts that can be appreciated immediately: watching tournament matches from the VIP lounges, access to the legendary "village" to have a drink and maybe bump into some famous people on the corner of a street!

Fun yet civic activities

Spectators will also be invited to give their support to the future tennis stars and show their appreciation for the sport by taking part in an original civic gesture. They can put their empty PET bottles – of Perrier and Vittel – into a giant Perrier bottle. The thousands of bottles that will be recycled will be transformed into equipment to be given to tennis clubs.

Recognition for amateur players and club members

To illustrate its commitment to tennis, Perrier, in partnership with the FFT, is organising a one-day event with matches between tennis amateurs and professionals. The winners of the 2011 Perrier Trophy French Championship, from all age categories and in singles, will be invited to Roland-Garros on 9 June to exchange a few rallies with some of the greatest champions in the history of tennis, current players or participants of the Perrier Trophée des Légendes.

A field day for the players and some very fine tennis

This year, the Perrier Trophée des Légendes will once again be celebrating the greatest stars in the history of tennis. Created and presented by Mansour Bahrami, it will take place from 5 to 10 June and yet again, thrills, generosity and fun will be top of the bill! John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Henri Leconte, Sergi Bruguera and Goran Ivanisevic have already confirmed their participation.

Perrier Trophée des Légendes: Time moves on while legends remain

To the delight of one and all, they’ll be back in Paris, ready to repeat some of the finest moments in the history of the sport for which they alone hold the secret! "They" are some of the greatest players in the history of world tennis. The ones we call tennis "Legends"! All champions with a host of victories under their belts, giving us some of our most treasured memories of the sport. And that is why we love the Perrier Trophée des Légendes. Because time moves on but the Legends remain. Because the game is more important than the score. Because every shot is a source of thrills, delight and creative play.

This year, for the 15th edition, the cast is looking good. The men’s tournament will feature 12 doubles teams (i.e. 24 players), and the women’s will feature 6 teams. List of participants in the Perrier 2012 Trophée des Légendes (subject to final confirmation)

Perrier, the official sparkle of tennis for 35 years, but there’s more…

The brand Perrier belongs to the foodstuffs group Nestlé SA, the world’s leading food company. Perrier is part of the subsidiary Nestlé Waters, the world leader for bottled water with nearly 70 brands, including Perrier, Vittel, Valvert, Contrex, S.Pellegrino, as well as Nestlé Pure Life, Hépar, etc.

Since it was first bottled in 1863, Perrier, the naturally sparkling mineral water, has conquered the entire world. Today it is sold in 150 countries and its success continues, with 2.4 million bottles drunk every day, which makes 28 bottles every second!

As inexorable and unique as it may seem, the history of Perrier is strongly immersed in sport. In addition to tennis, the brand is linked with some of the greatest sporting events in France and abroad. In 1923, the legendary "Perrier van" travelled the Tour de France. For over half a century the brand was linked to the Grand Tour.

In the 1960s, Perrier became the first brand to be worn on an athletics bib and then went on to become the first jersey sponsor in the French football championship. It also created prestigious events such as the "Perrier Paris Golf Tournament" and the "Perrier Beach Tour" for beach volleyball, in the mid 1990s.

A passion for sport which is shown with elegance, a little madness and a lot of humour in the brand’s communication campaigns. In turn, the little green bottle has sought to celebrate "joy after victory", "the winner’s favourite drink", "number one seed against thirst", or quite simply "the athletes’ favourite water". An anthology of great slogans, witnessing the importance of sport in Perrier’s career since the beginning.

Today, the brand is celebrating 35 years of loyal commitment to tennis in general, and Roland-Garros in particular.
