Nestlé Waters North America and the Maryland Hybrid Truck Initiative (MHTI)

Nestlé Waters North America, along with other actors, has recently partnered with The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) to fund the Maryland Hybrid Truck Initiative, known as the MHTI.

The MHTI is the largest collaborative heavy-duty hybrid truck project in the US.

The MHTI will utilize $5.9 million in grant funding to help offset the incremental cost to purchase and deploy 143 Freightliner hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and Freightliner Custom Chassis hydraulic hybrid vehicles (HHVs) designed to meet the operational demands of local goods movement fleets.

In the spirit of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, MHTI’s partners are working extensively to sustain and create American jobs, reduce emissions and petroleum consumption, and intend for this project to become a model for other goods movement hybrid deployment projects across the nation.
