MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURAL, FOOD AND FORESTRY POLICIES, AND DELEGATE FOR EXPO, MAURIZIO MARTINA VISITS THE S.PELLEGRINO PLANT IN RUSPINO: A TRIBUTE TO THE BRAND, EXPORTER OF THE VALUE OF THE MADE IN ITALY LABEL THE WORLD ROUND.
Ruspino, 26 June 2015 – The Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, and
delegate for Expo, Maurizio Martina, today visited the Sanpellegrino Group plant in Ruspino
where he had the opportunity to meet the company’s employees and management, and to
discover the processes for bottling the famous water with the “red star”, symbol of Italian
quality in the world.
Welcoming the minister were Stefano Agostini, Chairman and Managing Director of the
Sanpellegrino Group, Tiziana Albanese, Director of the Ruspino plant and Marco Settembri, Executive Vice President of Nestlé SA and Head of Nestlé Waters the mother’s company of the Sanpellegrino group.
"I thank Sanpellegrino Group for this invitation to visit the factory of S. Pellegrino, a water that become a symbol of Italian style in the world - said the Minister Martina -. What I saw and territory, in the enhancement of the Italian productive excellence and our talents, an eheard today demonstrates how virtuous companies are able to find in the dialogue with the xtraordinary asset to create great value for the country and the world. Even in Expo 2015 -continued the Minister Martina - the company is proving to transfer these values with passion to the visitors, acting as an ambassador of Italian style to the public and contributing to the success of this strategic event for our country”.

The S.Pellegino brand is the pride and joy of the Sanpellegrino Group, leader in Italy in the beverage sector: with 811 million euros in 2014, the company is continuing its two-figure growth on foreign markets (+14%) as well as giving positive signals on the Italian market, which started to grow again this year (+2.5%).

For Sanpellegrino, the visit by Minister Martina is double proof of the value of its work. The
Minister is also the Italian government’s representative for the Expo 2015 event, at which
S.Pellegrino is Official Water Partner.
S.Pellegrino is the only company in the food sector with two ties to the Universal Exposition:
as well as being the official water for Expo Milano 2015, it is also partner of the Italian
Pavilion, underlining its two faces: its international calling since the start of the twentieth
century, and its Italian origin. Indeed, mineral water is a product that cannot be separated
from its place of origin. It has to be bottled as it flows out of the spring, and its distinct
characteristics are drawn from the very same location. An area that, along with water
resource, the company protects and preserves thanks to environmental sustainability policies
and the development of projects and initiatives. For example, in collaboration with qualified
hydro geologists and through the use of innovative research systems, Sanpellegrino defines
and implements measures in order to protect the the source, the surrounding environment
and the water, collected and conveyed to the factories.
During the visit, Minister Martina also praised the brand’s commitment to promoting a correct
nutritional lifestyle, by sponsoring the importance of high-quality hydration.
And it is at EXPO 2015, as part of the event - “Hydration and Health, the hidden link” – organised by FEMTEC and the Milan Charter with support from the Sanpellegrino Group, that
the official request was presented to the Italian Health Ministry to establish a National
Hydration Day, as the first step towards a World Hydration Day.
The documents presented during this initiative promoted by Sanpellegrino are an important
scientific contribution to the Milan Charter, the “intangible legacy” of EXPO 2015 for future
