Inaugurated in 2004 in Vittel, France, the Product Technology Centre (PTC) brings together all the group’s expertise in bottled water. A multidisciplinary team of 80 researchers (nutritionists, hydrogeologists, biochemists, microbiologists, experts in PET chemistry, etc.) has a mandate to provide fast, appropriate responses to requests from the markets.
From idea to implementation, this is where highperformance packaging is developed. PTC experts may also be called upon to develop new water-based beverage formulas, such as PERRIER FLUO and VITTEL+ENERGY.

The PTC is equipped with a pilot workshop covering all production processes used in the group’s manufacturing plants, under a single roof. Here, innovations in products, packaging and new industrial processes are tested under real conditions. PTC technical specialists are additionally available for routine or ad hoc local assistance to the markets, from factory start-ups to economic studies enabling to ensure good industrial performance.
The PTC houses the Nestlé Waters’ Central Laboratory. Responsible for the updating and performance of all quality processes applied within the company, the Central Laboratory also carries out research in key sectors such as microbiology, chemistry and sensory analysis. By networking with other Nestlé Group research centres, the PTC contributes actively to Nestlé Waters’ development around the world. A place for exchange, information and training, the PTC also houses a world documentation centre on water – a unique bibliographic resource.
