Introduction to Nestlé Waters
2 questions to Nestlé Waters' CEO:
What do you mean by Nestlé Waters, The Healthy Hydration Company ™?
Water is essential for life: it is at the core of nutrition and, therefore, health. Over the years, Nestlé Waters has developed an outstanding expertise in bottled water. This expertise extends from quality preservation to knowledge on its health benefits to making different formats available that respond to the different hydration needs of consumers. Beyond this, in a context of growing water quality problems linked to rapid urbanisation and health issues as a result of rising obesity in the world, I am deeply convinced that our bottled waters represent, as far as their scope allows, part of the solution.
What does it mean to be the leader of the bottled water market?
Being leader means that we have a responsibility towards populations (consumers, local communities, employees) and the environment. Nestlé Waters is conscious of the environmental impacts of our business; this is why a large part of our R&D has always focused on water resource protection and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our leadership is the result of the pooling of expertise and the everyday hard work of the women and men passionate about bottled water, which is a fascinating product.

In fact, as the world's bottled water leader, Nestlé Waters has made of sustainable water use a top priority.
Nestlé Waters has also continued its work to optimize packaging weight: From 2005 to 2010, the weight of its bottles was reduced by 19% per litre produced. In parallel, the Group is contributing to the collection of used packaging and/or plays a role in raising awareness about the importance of recycling. Nestlé Waters supports solutions which minimize the environmental impact of the transportation of its products, giving preference for instance to rail whenever possible.
