13 international chefs working to make the difference

This year, lovers of great cooking and community spirit are invited to a joyful and convivial banquet to celebrate food as fusion – in innovative cooking, as well as a social link that brings people together. In the kitchen for Le Grand Fooding S.Pellegrino 2016 are 13 chefs, artisans and restaurateurs from all over the world with a philanthropic commitment to humanist causes, ready to use their talent to express the values of sharing and simple pleasures. These culinary stars will prepare dishes reflecting their gastronomic traditions: Jessamyn Rodriguez and les Boulangères (Hot Bread Kitchen, NYC); Pierre Gagnaire (Restaurant Pierre Gagnaire, Paris); Regina Tchelly (Favela Organica, Rio de Janeiro); Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi (Ottolenghi, London); Céline Pham; Xavier Zapata (Café des Méditérranées, Marseille); Aman Jaspal and Sameena Jaspal (Sarhad Food Culture & Park, Amritsar); Kamal Mouzawak (Souk El Tayeb and Tawlet, Beyrouth); Niki Kopcke and Roberta Siao (Mazi Mas, London) and Franck Baranger (Le Pantruche and Caillebotte, Paris).

1000 food lovers take a culinary journey in the heart of Paris

The foodie event of the year will take place in Paris' 11th arrondissement, the trendsetting epicenter of new French gastronomy, at La Générale, an old industrial building converted into artists' studios and a grand hall that can accommodate 200 diners at a time. Over the course of five, 1000 participants are expected to congregate around communal tables to sample dishes specially prepared by the invited chefs. In the spirit of sharing and exchange, a self-serve buffet format will encourage conversations between chefs and diners.

Food + Feeling = Fooding; Food + Philanthropy = Fusion

S. Pellegrino and Le Fooding are making the most of this popular annual event to illustrate how food can create social connections and overcome political and cultural conflicts. In line with Le Grand Fooding's mission of outreach with international communities, for each ticket purchased, five euros will benefit SOS MEDITERRANEE, a European charitable organization dedicated to rescuing distressed persons in the Mediterranean Sea.
